“I’ll be fine,” I tell her. I’ve said that so many times recently that I feel like that’s my new catch phrase or something. Too bad I don’t have any special powers or abilities to go with it.
“The planes just about to land, are you absolutely sure that you want to go?”
“I have no other choice unless he gives permission for me to stay with you, and as if he’s going to agree to that, mom. He has custody over me during the summers. There’s nothing we can do. Besides, he sounded excited when I called him before takeoff.
